Latest Changes in IELTS score for Canadian Immigration

Canada is very keen to welcome immigrants from all over the world. Canadian government also knows about the difficulties of future applicants which they are facing due to a high IELTS band requirement for additional points of Canadian Immigration.

Due to these difficulties faced by the majority of the people over the world, Canadian government has very kindly reduced the IELTS score requirement for Canadian Immigration Points. CIC has now decrease the IELTS band requirement criteria for Canada Skilled worker Immigration points.

Congratulations to all!!!

Canada has reduced minimum IELTS score requirement for 4 points of Immigration

As CIC has decreased the minimum IELTS band score from 7 band to 6.5 band to obtain four points for Immigrate to Canada in Skilled Worker Category. Now you can obtain 4 points for one module of IELTS if you score 6.5 band as compared to old system which required at lease 7 Band in IELTS to obtain four points in a specific module of IELTS. Only listening module gained the IELST score instead of reduction. i.e. 7.5, which was 7 previously.
Now you can get 16 points for immigration by having the following minimum band in IELTS
Writing: 6.5 Band
Reading: 6.5 Band
Speaking: 6.5 Band
Listening: 7.5 Band

Following table give the full details:
Enjoy your Canadian Immigration.

One thing to remember that that the correct ancronym of International Language Testing System is IELTS but sometimes people mispell it ielets, ilts, iltes, ilets, elts, eilts, iltis or ielst. So please remember the correct acncronym i.e. IELTS

Have a question. My spouse's sister is a PR in Canada for 18+Yrs(hasnt opted to become Canada Passport holder). While I apply for PR, could I claim benfit under family(5 points), if my spouse is no longer alive? My late spouse's family and I have been in contact and the relationship continues between families. They are very keen to have me move to Canada and ready to offer any help/paper work to facilitate my movement. Thanks

Hi, Good day, I read in cic.gc.ca website that there is two options for Proof of English proficiency. Either taking the IELTS test or proof of English usage like English certificates from School, employer, certificates of English, diploma, and etc.
Please advise if it is fine for to just submit the certicates i have like global English, certificates that I had a 1 month english course, and etc.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

I am currently living in Toronto on a 3yr working visa, which I obtained after finishing a 2-year diploma in General Arts & Science at a post-secondary institution (college) in Toronto. I am gainfully employed as Operations Manager at the same college (roughly 1.5 years of experience) and I also have immediate family (my sister is a Canadian Citizen) in Canada. My questions are:

1- How many IELTS points do I need to qualify for PR?
2 - Does my spouse (listed as dependent) need to take IELTS?
3 - I also took a couple of college level classes in French. Do I need to take a proficiency test for French as well or is my college transcript sufficient enough?

It seems redundant to me to have to take the IELTS after all this exposure to the English language and I wish they change the rules from applications from within Canada soon, so any sympathy is welcome :)

Thank you in advance,

Your profession exist in the demanded occupation list of canada immigration, so you can apply for canadian immigration

Comrade said...

Dear Anonymous,
Dont be a victim of fake immigration consultants. This blog is for you and you can ask any question about canadian immigration.

First of all check you points on the following link of official website of canadian immigration

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assess/Education.asp

spouse must be the primary applicant because she has master's degree and sister in canada which will give her bonus points.

Dont hesitate to ask any further question

Dear Leo,
Why dont you think about student visa of your self. In my opinion you and your husband are not fulfilling the least 67 points requirement for canadian immigration so it is advised that you get admission in a canadian universty and apply for student visa.

This is the easiest option for you to immigrate to canada

Anonymous said...

comred sir,
i have studied about every possible way.but study visa is our of my range.we are not financially strong.in canada education is very costly which i cant afford.but anyway sir thanks for ur so much support.in future ill contact u if i needed help. thnks leo

Dear Busy Bee,
It depends on your total score without IELTS.
What is your total score without IELTS and in which year and category you have applied for canadian immigration

I'm not sure about my total score without IELTS. I applied in June 2010 and received the acknowledgement last month.

May I also know if I'll get any point for my 1st cousin living in Canada? She and her husband are willing to support me in every possible way.

Thank you,

Hi

I've done BBA Honors and later I worked in an American firm for 8 years as Admin & Accounts Executive. I'm 30 years old, single. According to this, I think my total score is 53.

My overall band in IELTS is 7.0. I would have scored more, as I'm a born poet and fluent in English. I'm writing poems since the age of 6 and have won awards as well. Despite of being so fluent in English, I got only 7 bands because I have Exam phobia. I don't know why but I get very nervous when I appear in exams (academic too).

I missed my reading, writing and listening only by 0.5 and there's no surity that if I re-appear then I'll gain my score or get more nervous n even go down. My speaking band is the proof that I'm very good in English language but every time I appear in exams, I just lose my nerves :(

Please let me know if this thing can be considered and if I can submit my documents without re-appearing in IELTS?

I am not self praising myself, but I know that I have the potentials of serving at my best in Canada but only coz of the exam fear I don't want to be left behind. Rest is of course in your hands.

Thank you.

Regards,
Busy Bee

Comrade said...

Dear Busy Bee,
Reading: 6 = 2
Writing: 6 = 2
Listening: 7 = 2
Speaking: 8 = 4

10 pints for ielts

so your total score is 53+10=63

you have to re-appear in ielts.

What is your country of residence?

Busy Bee said...

Hi,

Thank you for your response, but as I said that I've exam phobia and there's no guarantee if I'll score more or will go even down :( Something just makes me go blank when it comes to exams. :((

I missed my reading, writing and listening only by 0.5 but I scored so well in speaking. Couldn't this be considered, please?

Isn't there any other way that can help me in getting 4 points more other than re-appearing in IELTS?? Just thinking about of re-appearing in it makes my nerves go down coz I am just too scared of exams. :((

I am from Pakistan.

Hope you could suggest me and guide me on this, please? I shall be very thankful to you in this regard.

Regards,
Busy Bee
